"Another way of being an architect"
4th Annual Conference of The Foundation of Emergency Architects.
The Foundation of Emergency Architects organised its 4th International conference on the 6th and 7th November 2008 at the « Espace Oscar Niemeyer » - Paris. This event brought together: our principal partners, the global organisations of international solidarity as well as members of the general public interested in international aid and Emergency Architects.
The first day was the occasion to bring together different players in round tables discussions about the current subjects at the heart of the humanitarian world. How to act when an emergency becomes long lasting? What procedures and actions to put in place to ensure sustainable development and the perenity of rebuilding? How the International Aid Organisations should manage the growing problems of shanty towns?
The second day enabled the presentation of the different programmes of the Foundation, its history and its international development. Also presented were different participants linking architecture, emergency missions and sustainable development, so putting at the heart of the conference the essential subjects that the Foundation is working on at the moment.
Organising such an event in the « Espace Oscar Niemeyer » emphasised the importance of architects in today’s world, from using their skill for the realisation of such a prestigious building or to come to the aid of those who have lost everything.
